Grotesque Carnival is an animated film offering an absurd critique of the pursuit of perfection, body policing, and the suppression of humanity and vulnerability. The film explores the moment control breaks down and the body celebrates its own liberation.
approach
The project began with the development of a grotesque visual language inspired by the tension between elegance and bodily imperfection. I created the concept, characters, illustrations and visual direction, combining hand-drawn watercolor and ink with AI-assisted animation workflows to bring the world and its exaggerated physicality to life.
